Department of Labour Relations
In case notice for termination of the employment has been given by the employer to the employee, the employee is obliged to work during that period. In case the employee wishes during the notice period to leave, he/she can do so without prior notice. In this case however he/she loses any rights for the rest of the notice period.

The employer reserves the right to request from the employee not to work during the notice period, he/she is however in that case, obliged to pay the notice period.

An employee who is requested not to work during the aforementioned notice period but is subsequently paid, is not entitled to any other benefits, including 13th or/and 14th salary for that period. See Court Decision Marias Christofi Vs A&P (Andreou & Paraskevaides) Enterprises Ltd Case number 619/05-626/05 dated 15/09/2006 which is relevant.
