Department of Labour

Training

The Labour Department through the District Labour Offices cooperates closely with the Human Resource Development Authority in finding those registered unemployed, especially long-term unemployed and newcomers in the labour market who, by fulfilling certain criteria, could join training programmes or programmes which aim at further improving/upgrading their skills.

These programmes are prepared on the basis of research conducted by the Human Resource Development Authority from time to time to assess the shortages/needs in human resource in various branches of economic activity.

An initial selection of persons takes place who then are invited to state whether they are interested in participating in the programmes. Next, the list of names is sent to the Human Resource Development Authority, which, proceeds with the final selection of participants.
