According to the provisions of the Termination of Employment Law, the employer is obliged, in case the employee wishes, to give him/her a letter in which the period of employment and the duties of his/her position are mentioned.

In the case of Kallistheni Demetriou vs Piccadilly Manufacturing Ltd,28/92, the Court mentioned that the Law imposes an obligation on employers for written termination notice, in order to: a) grant the employee the possibility to seek new employment, b) record the termination reason and c) exact determination of the employment period for mainly redundancy and compensation issues.
