26/11/2009 On 21.10.2009 the Republic of Cyprus submitted to the International Atomic Energy Agency, the documents for accession to the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management. This Convention will enter into force for Cyprus on 19.1.2010.
15/11/2009 The Radiation Inspection and Control Service, Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance, organized a workshop on "Radiation and Nuclear Safety" at the Cleopatra hotel, Macedonia room, in Nicosia, Saturday, 28 November, 2009, 8.30 - 16.00. The participation in the workshop is free.

19/5/2009 The Radiation Inspection and Control Service of the Department of Labor Inspection organizes two short courses for practitioners without extensive training on radiation protection (urologists, orthopedics, surgeons, etc.) and experts offering relevant training programs. The seminars will take place on Monday, 25.5.2009, 14.00-16.00 in the lecture room (1st floor) of the Limassol General Hospital and on Wednesday, 27.5.2009, 14.00-16.00 in the lecture hall of the Aretaieio Hospital in Strovolos. 2/1/2009 The Department of Labour Inspection (DLI) has signed a bilateral agreement for technical cooperation with the Greek Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC), which covers all aspects of radiation protection and nuclear safety under the responsibility of both authorities. The agreement was signed in Nicosia on 13/12/2008 by the Director of DLI and the President of the GAEC, after approval by the Council of Ministers.

2/8/2006 On 26-30 June 2006 in the framework of Technical Cooperation of the Department of Labour Inspection with the International Atomic Energy Agency, Dr. Abel J. Gonzalez visited Cyprus, expert and former director for nearly two decades at the Department of Nuclear Safety and Radioactive Waste Management of the International Atomic Energy Agency, former Director of the Argentine Atomic Energy Commission and the Argentine representative at the United Nations UNSCEAR and Board Member of the ICRP. During his mission in Cyprus Dr. Gonzalez had consultations with the Department of Labour Inspection and presented the latest developments in radiation protection, nuclear safety and security of radioactive sources at two workshops, both open to the public, organized in Nicosia and Limassol.
