Benefits and Services provided to the Enclaved

The Social Welfare Services have introduced the following allowances and services in order to support the enclaved population. The allowances and services are as follows:

· Monthly allowance to the enclaved population.

· Home care services for the elderly and disabled enclaved who can not care for themselves.

· Subsidisation of the children of enclaved parents who are studying in the tertiary education in Cyprus or abroad.

· Subsidy offered to the children of enclaved parents who are studying at the kindergarten, the elementary school and at the High School of Rizokarpaso village.

· Monthly allowance to the enclaved population.

· The monthly allowances for the enclaved population are yearly revised by the Council of Ministers. According to the Council of Ministers Decision number 66.179 date 24-10-2007, the monthly allowance of the enclaved as follows:

a. Public Assistance for the Beneficiary: 371.62.

b. Public Assistance for each dependent over the age of 14 years: 185.81

c. Public Assistance for each dependent under the age of 14 years: 111.49

d. Enclaved people who are disabled receive additionally the amount of € 185,81

Additionally, according to Decisions by the Council of Ministers, the enclaved population is provided:

a. Easter allowance. In 2010 all enclaved individuals received as Easter allowance, 150,00 each.

b. Christmas allowance. In 2009 all enclaved individuals received as Christmas allowance the same amount of money as the allowance they received for December 2009.

· Home care services for the elderly and disabled enclaved who can not care for themselves.

According to the Council of Ministers Decision number 46.615 date 10.9.1997, enclaved individuals who can not care for themselves, are granted an additional allowance for the employment of a carer. The amount of the additional allowance varies according to the degree of difficulty they are facing to care for themselves.

· Subsidisation of the children of enclaved parents who are studying in the tertiary education in Cyprus or abroad.

According to the Council of Ministers Decision number 46.887 date 14.11.1997, children of enclaved parents who attend tertiary education in Cyprus or abroad, are granted subsidy as follows:

a. Students who attend tertiary education in Cyprus: € 2562,90 annually.

b. Students who are studying in universities abroad but are not paying fees: € 5125,80 annually.

c. Students who are studying in universities abroad and are paying fees: € 7688,70 annually.

· Subsidy offered to the children of enclaved parents who are studying at the kindergarten, the elementary school and at the High School of Rizokarpaso village.

According to the Council of Ministers Decision number 64.746 date 12.12.2006, the monthly allowance of the children of enclaved parents who attend the kindergarten, the Elementary school or the High School of Rizokarpaso village receive 379,31 on a monthly basis irrespective of their age.
