Grants in Aid Scheme, is a mechanism of the Cyprus΄ social welfare system. It aims to encourage and support the involvement of voluntary organisations in the field of social welfare and to satisfy the local social care needs that are not met by the State.
According to the priorities of the newly revised Grants in Aid Scheme, voluntary organisations are financed in order to:
§ Develop Services that aim to prevent social problems and to support the family unit.
§ Encourage the social inclusion of women and vulnerable groups of people along with their integration and re-integration in the labour market.
Grants in Aid Scheme in its current form, was introduced in 1978, aiming to support the work of voluntary organisations.
