General information

Who has the obligation to register with the Social Insurance Services
Every employer who employs employees in Cyprus is obliged to register with the Employers’ Register of the Social Insurance Services. There are no separate procedures for different types of contract (permanent contracts, indefinite, fixed-term).

The obligation of the employer to pay contributions to the Social Insurance Fund ceases from the day when the employee reaches the pensionable age of 65. In case the employee reaches the pensionable age and does not meet the insurance conditions for statutory pension, the employer is obliged to continue paying social insurance contributions until the employee is entitled to a pension. In no case, however, are contributions paid after the age of 68.
