Any undertaking conducting or intending to conduct a dental practice using ionising radiation shall submit in writing an application for granting an authorisation from the Radiation Control and Inspection Service.
Any undertaking requesting authorisation for practices with ionising radiation is required to demonstrate and substantiate adequately that it ensures adequate levels of radiological safety and security and radiation protection in its installation and during the conduct of the practices.
The procedures, requirements and necessary supporting documents to be submitted for practices subject to authorisation through registration for ionising radiation sources and practices, are set out in the Notification of the Chief Inspector entitled
"the Protection from Ionising Radiation and Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security (Specifications for practices, procedures and regulatory control requirements related to the notification or granting of authorisation through registration or licensing) Notification of 2019" (R.A.A. 153/2019).
The undertakings to whom authorisation is granted shall comply with the provisions of the legislation and the General Conditions published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of 19.3.2021 with the Notification of the Chief Inspector entitled
"The Protection against Ionising Radiation and Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security (Standards (General Conditions) for Authorisation through Registration for practices with radiation generators used for the purposes of dental applications or bone mass measurement) Notification of 2021 (R.A.A. 115/2021)". It is pointed out that the Notification of the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance R.A.A. 470/2014 has been repealed at the same date above and should not be used.
