The import and export of dangerous chemical substances is regulated by the European Regulation 649/2012. The term import refers to the physical introduction of the chemical substance into the customs territory of the European Community, meaning import from a country which is not a Member State of the European Union. The restrictions that pertain for the import and export of specific chemical substances are referred to the intended use of the substance.
