Based on article 61 of the
Protection against Ionising Radiation and Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security Law of 2018, the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance may establish a Council for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety with a notification in the Official Gazette of the Republic.
The Council is chaired by the Chief Inspector and the members appointed, as well as the period for which are appointed, are defined with a Notification of the Minister published in the Gazette.
The Council shall advice the Minister on:
- the formulation of national policy concerning radiation protection matters, including applications of nuclear techniques, nuclear safety and health and safety matters against the risks arising from ionizing radiation;
- all matters concerning radiation or nuclear energy, including matters of potential exposure to radiation risks arising from sources abroad; and
- any other issue of his competence that he may consider necessary.
